Founded in 1991 by Richard E. Rainwater, the Rainwater Charitable Foundation (RCF) is dedicated to sustainable solutions across all areas they serve. RCF has three primary programs. The Family Economic Security Program is committed to supporting North Texas families and children through quality education, upskilling, affordable housing, and childcare. The Medical Research Program strives to find a cure for tauopathies with research on accelerating the development of new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. And other foundation programs from Africa to Fort Worth, supporting a diverse range of organizations that create a world where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Working alongside Mike and the Metropolis Creative team was a great experience. Their communication and project management skills kept us on target with deadlines and organized from start to finish. Metropolis Creative brought our organization’s website to life and their expertise every step of the way gave us confidence to achieve our digital communications goals with excellence.
Content Formatting
Each page required a strategic approach to formatting the content-rich sections. Some pages became quite long and benefitted from on-page navigation to jump the user down to specific areas of the page.
Scrolling Timeline
The Rainwater Prize page was quite extensive, almost like a mini-site on its own. To display all of the past winners of the prize, we created a scrolling timeline that was divided by year. The timeline was designed in a flexible way that could accommodate any number of winners per section.
Every website design starts with a set of wireframes to help us better understand what content is needed on each page. A good page design should tell a story in the right order. Size and position help set the hierarchy of how the content will be consumed. The bulk of the site’s structure happens in these blueprints before we move on to the color design mockups.
The Results
The Rainwater Charitable Foundation has a newly designed website that showcases their main areas of giving and other important focus areas. The website provides users with a better understanding of how the foundation provides sustainable solutions across the areas it serves. The website was custom-designed and built in WordPress, which allows the client to manage the site independently.
