A vibrant and fun brand.
Purple Cactus reached out to Metropolis, looking to update their website presence by making it feel more lively and reflective of their restaurant’s Southwestern-style exterior and interior aesthetic. Using their existing brand color palette and massive exterior art mural as inspiration for the design, we crafted a look and feel incorporating hand-drawn elements, Mexican-inspired patterns, and savory plate silhouettes throughout the site. We built the site on WordPress using a custom-coded theme that performs beautifully for desktop and mobile devices.
Festive Icons and Image Galleries
We used co-branded illustrations and icons in their bright color palette to add life to the website. Image galleries let the food speak for itself. We really tried to provide a sense of what it’s like to visit the Purple Cactus.
Structured Menu System
The Purple Cactus offers a variety of plates and side dishes including burritos, salads, quesadillas, soups & chili, chips & salsa, and more. We designed the menu so it would be quick and easy for the user to find what they’re looking for. On-page navigation sticks at the top while the user scrolls through the different menu sections.
Content-managed With Gutenberg
We used WordPress’s Gutenberg block editor to build out the website’s pages, making the site completely content-managed. The client can easily make updates to the content by intuitively editing each section. We added a feature that allows the client to assign a color to any icon and background circle. The illustrations are vector-based SVGs that are high-quality and render quickly.
The Purple Cactus now has a modern-looking site they can maintain themselves. It is easy to keep the content and pricing up-to-date. And customers can order online for pickup or delivery.
