Customized data organization.
Grist Labs is a software company. We care about software because it matters inordinately for today’s world — for productivity, communication, decision-making, human progress, and life pursuits. In addition to a SaaS service, they have also open-sourced Grist and made it possible to run an instance on your own infrastructure — Grist can run on the desktop of every major OS.
One of the primary goals of this project was to highlight the platform’s features early on in the user journey. Our challenge was to design the layout in a way that made the features impossible to ignore yet easy to digest.
In addition to the platform’s ability to organize your spreadsheets, they offer pre-formatted templates to help get you started. We built a user-filterable template archive for users of different industries to choose from.
Grist needed their pricing plans to be easily comparable while being easy to manage in the WordPress back-end. Their new price table offers tooltips with additional information, and works very well on mobile devices.
Every website design starts with a set of wireframes to help us better understand what content is needed on each page. A good page design should tell a story in the right order. Size and position help set the hierarchy of how the content will be consumed. The most important aspects of the design and usability happens in these blueprints before we move on to the color design mockups.
Grist now has a beautifully responsive website to showcase their easy-to-use platform while being able to fully customize the site’s content or add new pages at any time. Our strategic content planning at the beginning of the process helped pave the way for an intuitive browsing experience that promotes organization and trust. The website’s backend is controlled through the WordPress Gutenberg editor, an intuitive drop-and-drag tool for customizing page content, with little experience needed.
